Thorman Jerry Jr., a native Washingtonian, is the owner and founder of M-R-S, M-R-S Tax Services, and Refunds-To-Go, three leading companies in the tax-service industry, all working together to provide tax preparation software, electronic filing services, and related financial and tax processing services.
Under Mr. Jerry’s leadership, M-R-S Tax Services files individual tax returns, while M-R-S and Refunds-To-Go provide tools for individuals wanting to enter into the professional tax preparation industry. These tools include fast, accurate, and easy to use tax software; integrated bank products to stay competitive; income tax school to develop new tax preparers; and “Refunds-To-Go” tax centers, which provide all the infrastructure and resources to help individual tax preparers succeed.
Mr. Jerry founded M-R-S in 1990 as a seasonal complement to his parcel-shipping business. In his first year, he filed 300 tax returns using the IRS e-File system and quickly realized the potential within the tax services industry. After transitioning to a full-time operation, Mr. Jerry expanded his business in 1999, teaming with Orrtax Software Solutions Inc. -- now IntelliTax. -- to create M-R-S, which provides tax software and training for Professional Tax Preparer and Electronic Return Originators (EROs). In 2006, the business further expanded with “Refunds-To-Go,” providing an additional resource center to help the Professional Tax Preparer expand their existing practices into the retail market.
